Vikings conquer Nighthawks, set sail for SCAA junior final

Barrie North now moves on to Simcoe County Athletic Association title game against Collingwood on Friday at J.C. Massie Field

The Barrie North Vikings junior football team pulled away with a couple of third-quarter touchdowns after a close game against the Orillia Nighthawks to win their Simcoe County Athletic Association (SCAA) semifinal game Monday afternoon

The Vikings beat the Nighthawks, 22-6, on a rainy and cold afternoon at Georgian College's J.C. Massie Field in Barrie in a battle to reach the SCAA final.

Barrie North now moves on to the SCAA championship game against the Collingwood Fighting Owls, who beat the Nantyr Shores Tritons, 17-6, in Monday's other semifinal match-up.

The Vikings and Fighting Owls both hold 7-0 records heading into the SCAA title game.

The championship game will be played on Friday, Nov. 10 starting at 1 p.m. back at J.C. Massie Field.

The winner of that game will then face the champion from the Catholic School Athletics of Simcoe County (CSASC) junior loop for the Georgian Bay Secondary School Association (GBSSA) title.

The GBSSA crown will be up for grabs on Friday, Nov. 14 at J.C. Massie Field, with kick-off set for 5 p.m.
